Teaching Philosophy

There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.” – Fred Rogers

I believe in education it is important to consider the whole child. It is so easy to look at a child and see on that individual’s behaviors that are either pleasing or displeasing and not look deeper. All children, all people really, are good and have within them the capacity to be kind, to be loving, to change the world for the better.

Being the school librarian I am in a unique position of having a class that most students instinctively want to come to. Children love books it is ingrained in them from an early age. It is my goal to ensure that this love of books extends past the age where children generally cease having books read to them and other activities creep in.

It is my goal this school year to incorporate books read aloud to each grade and include STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math) based projects to reinforce the central concepts of the books and engage the students with the story in a hands on way.
